Blue Book
The Blue Book Project is the cornerstone of PennReady. Blue Books are building-specific crisis management action plans (C-MAP) examining all emergency preparedness aspects of campus buildings in the pre-emergency environment. These books document the readiness of the Penn community's response in an all-hazards approach to emergency management as well as providing vital systems information for emergency responders to manage a crisis event as it unfolds.
It is anticipated, that these books would be used by the building emergency team in assessing a building preparedness profile prior to an incident. The books could be used by the responsible parties for the building such as Facilities and Real Estate Services, Housing and Conferences Services, building and business administrators and the College House System deans and staff. The book could also be used by emergency response and recovery personnel to quickly mitigate and recover from an emergency incident affecting a building or buildings on campus.

The Blue Book
Following the direction of the University of Pennsylvania Crisis Management Plan, the Blue Book Program was developed and put into action in the spring of 2006. The program employs a six phase implementation and maintenance approach. Phases I and II includes all campus buildings where people sleep (residential buildings, fraternities and sororities, and the Steinberg Conference Center); information for these phases was gathered and books completed during the 2006-07 academic year. Phase III includes all school-related science buildings; this phase was completed during the 2007-08 academic year. Phase IV includes all school-related non-science buildings. Phase V includes center-related buildings not associated with a school; it is anticipated that these phases will be completed during the 2008-09 academic year. Phase VI will be a recurring maintenance phase, which is necessary to keep the information in the books up-to-date.

Emergency Preparedness Bulletins in Your Building
Emergency Preparedness Bulletins are posted in every Penn owned building. They are typically located on the first floor near or on all elevators, foyers or other public areas. These bulletins provide occupants with building specific information on Building Areas of Refuge and Shelter Areas and emergency procedures.
