03-24-2009: Share the Road Campaign Kick-Off
Penn Public Safety and the City of Philadelphia kicked off the “Share-the-Road” campaign on March 24, 2009 at the entrance of Locust Walk at 34th and Walnut Streets. The event focused on educating both bikers and motorists of basic safety practices and City and State laws to allow for a safe riding environment.
The “Share-the-Road” campaign, co-sponsored by the City’s Office of Transportation & Utilities, had members from the Bicycle Coalition of Philadelphia, Neighborhood Bike Works, USP, Drexel, EMS, Trophy Bikes, MERT, GAPSA and the UA available on site to answer questions and provide information. Public Safety’s “Driving and Cycling Safety on Penn’s Campus” was distributed to passerbies by Police and security personnel.
Pennsylvania's bicycle laws help insure the safety of everyone on the road. Riders are encouraged to become familiar with our Commonwealth's regulations. For more information please go to: http://www.dot.state.pa.us/BIKE/WEB/bikelaws.htm.
