  • 06/17/2009 - South Street Traffic Pattern to Change

    ADVISORY: The Division of Public Safety has been notified that effective IMMEDIATELY South Street between Convention Avenue and 33rd Street is to become one way Westbound only. Vehicular traffic will no longer be able to travel eastbound on South Street.

  • 04/20/2009 - 115th Penn Relay Traffic Info

    Please note that Penn Relays begins April 20, 2009. Pedestrian and vehicular traffic is expected to greatly increase near Franklin Field until Saturday evening April 25, 2009. To accommodate the Penn Relays, the eastbound lane of South Street between 33rd and 32nd Streets has been closed.

  • 02/20/2009 - New Traffic Pattern April 4, 2009: Medical Complex One-Way Loop

    On April 4, 2009, travelers to Penn’s Campus should expect a new traffic pattern between University Avenue and South Street (in the vicinity of Penn’s medical complex). Civic Center Boulevard will become one-way southbound from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania to Health Sciences Drive. Health Sciences Drive will become one-way northbound.

  • 12/12/08 - Public Safety Release: First Week Traffic Update

    Thanks to the extra enforcement details by the Penn and Philadelphia Police Departments that have been put into place to condition the traffic patterns, overall operations during the closure of the Bridge have gone smoothly. Traffic appears to be moving well due to timing of lights without the intervention of police officers on the intersections.

    SEPTA has announced that Rts 12, 21, 40, and 42 will undergo permanent route and timetable adjustments.

  • 11/25/08 - Accessing Hollenback, Hollenback Annex, Rhodes Field

    In order to have pedestrian access to Hollenback, the Hollenback annex and Rhodes field, the University is constructing a Weave Bridge, which will traverse the Amtrak rail lines that separate Hollenbeck from the rest of campus. The Weave Bridge is expected to be completed by mid January. Until the Weave Bridge is in place, Penn Transit will be offering shuttle service to the Hollenbeck complex starting Dec. 8, when the South Street Bridge is scheduled to close. To access both the normal Penn Transit Shuttle and the special Hollenbeck Shuttle call 215-898-RIDE.

  • 11/19/08 - The South Street Bridge will be Closed as of December 8, 2008

    The City of Philadelphia has notified Penn that the South Street Bridge will close for reconstruction on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008. The demolition and rebuilding of the bridge requires complete closure of the structure between Convention Avenue and 27th Street, including the on- and off-ramps connecting South Street and I-76.
