- 03/03/2009 - University of Pennsylvania Health System installs two traffic cams .
UPHS has installed two traffic cams to help motorists view traffic conditions at areas of Civic Center Blvd (looking toward University Ave) and 33rd & Market Streets. These cameras provide an aerial view of the streets and refresh every five minutes.

- 11/28/08 - City Press Release: Reconstruction of South Street Bridge to Begin December 8th.
Streets Commissioner Clarena Tolson announced today that the demolition and reconstruction of the South Street Bridge will begin on December 8, 2008. The $67 million project has been awarded to Driscoll Construction Company. The existing South St. Bridge will be completely demolished. The entire project is expected to take up to 24 months to complete.

- 11/10/08 - Mayor Michael Nutter Announces Reconstruction of South Street Bridge to Begin December 2008
Mayor Michael A. Nutter announced today that the contract for the reconstruction of the South Street Bridge has been awarded to Driscoll Construction Company in the amount of $67 million. The project will be financed with 80% Federal, 15% State and 5% City funds and will commence in December 2008.

The City of Philadelphia has announced that the South Street Bridge is to be closed this fall in order to demolish and rebuild the failing structure. The City anticipates that this project will last up to 24 months.
