Pattern of Theft from Vehicles Near Campus
Recently, multiple community members have reported incidents of theft from vehicles occurring near the northwest end of Penn’s campus. Most of these incidents have taken place between 38th and 42nd Streets, from Filbert Street to Walnut Street, primarily during daylight hours.
Complainants have reported that their vehicles were broken into, often by smashing a window. In several cases, personal property was stolen as a result.
The Division of Public Safety is conducting a thorough investigation and is collaborating with City partners to resolve this issue. Police and security patrols have been increased in the affected areas.
Please remain vigilant and aware of your surroundings. If you observe suspicious activity, promptly report it to Penn Police after moving to a safe location. Never attempt to confront a suspect.
Protect your property by locking your car doors, parking in well-lit areas, and removing all valuables when leaving your vehicle.
