Sprinklers Save Lives! Attend our side-by-side burn demonstration and safety fair!

The Division of Public Safety at Penn is excited to sponsor a Fire Prevention Week safety and emergency preparedness event to welcome in the 2017 – 2018 academic year.  We are partnering with the Philadelphia Fire Department, the National Fire Sprinkler Association and Perelman Quadrangle at Penn to conduct an event that is interesting and informative.  A number of agencies from the federal, state, local and private realms will be on hand to staff resource table to explain the many programs they have in place to keep the public safe, secure and emergency prepared.  A side by side burn of dormitory-type rooms will be ignited, demonstrating how fire burns quickly with ferocious results in a room without sprinkler technology, and how sprinklers can control a fire in its incipient stage in a second room.  The contrast of fire damage between the room with sprinkler technology and the room without sprinkler technology is quite dramatic.  This demonstration will leave a lasting impression of the benefits of the installation of sprinklers in industrial, commercial and residential settings.

Friday, September 29th, at Hamilton Green (intersection of Locust Walk and 40th Street), from 10am to 12pm.
