Chief Gene Janda awarded the Collegiate EMS Advisor of the Year Award!

Penn’s Chief of Fire and Emergency Services, Gene Janda, received the Collegiate EMS Advisor of the Year Award, 2015–2016, on Saturday, February 27, 2016, from the National Collegiate Emergency Medical Services Foundation (NCEMSF). Gene serves on the advisory board of the Penn Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT), a student-run service organization the provides emergency medical services to the University community. He was nominated by the MERT students who also attended the conference. Gene accepted this award on behalf of all the members of Division of Public Safety who support the MERT operations.  The award was presented at the NCEMSF Conference held in center city Philadelphia.

The National Collegiate Emergency Medical Services Foundation’s (NCEMSF) purpose is to support, promote, and advocate for emergency medical services (EMS) on college and university campuses. The Foundation is committed to the advancement of existing response groups and assisting in the development of new response groups. The Foundation provides a forum for the exchange of ideas of campus-based emergency response issues. To these ends, the Foundation is committed to scholarship, research and consultancy activities and to creating safer and healthier environments on college and university campuses.
