DPS and PennVet Working Dog Center Host the 2016 USPCA Region 6 National Detector Dog Trials

On June 6 & 7, the Penn Police Department and the Penn Vet Working Dog Center hosted the 2016 USPCA Region 6 National Detector Dog Trials. This event highlights the best trained dogs in the country and the important work of Canine Units. Bringing together over 50 police K9 teams from throughout the US and Canada, teams were tested in detecting narcotics, explosives, cadavers, and accelerants.

DPS Officer Sean P. Mackey & K-9 Zzisa received the National Certification for Explosive Detection and were also ranked #5 overall at the 2016 National Detector Dog Trials. Congratulations to Officer Mackey and Zzisa, and to all who competed.
