UPennAlert: Large demonstration in the area of 30th and Market Streets. The group is continuing to travel west on Market Street.

DPS Fall Commendation Ceremony

On Thursday, November 27, 2012, the Division of Public Safety held the Fall Commendation Ceremony. The Division of Public Safety’s Commendation Ceremony is a bi-annual event held during the fall and spring semesters The spring semester is conducted jointly with DPS, the Undergraduate Assembly (UA), and the Graduate and Professional Students Assembly (GAPSA).

The ceremony affords DPS the opportunity to celebrate and honor the work of our dedicated law enforcement and public safety professionals. Commendations of merit and commendatory letters were presented to members of the University of Pennsylvania Police Department (including the Detective Unit), the PennComm Center (Communications Command-Control Center), and AlliedBarton Security. Letters of recognition were also given to outside law enforcement agencies, such as the Philadelphia Police Department, and to various citizens from the community. 

This Fall, approximately 50 individuals were recognized with commendations of merit, commendatory letters, or letters of recognition. The Vice President for Public Safety also administered the Oath of Office to a new member of the Police Department, Officer Marone.
