Share the Road Education Campaign March 27-29
To educate the Penn bicycle and motorist community regarding basic safety practices and City and State laws to allow for a safe riding environment, Penn Police in collaboration with AlliedBarton officers will be involved in a “Share-the-Road” campaign. It will run for three (3) consecutive days, starting March 27th through March 29, 2012. UPPD Officers and AlliedBarton Patrol Officers will be assigned to the core of campus and surrounding city streets to alert bicyclists of the prohibition of bike riding on sidewalks as well as the four (4) “Walks”: Locust, Hamilton, Woodland and Smith.
UPPD Officers will be enforcing and educating the community in traffic laws that regulate motorists, pedestrians, bicycling and parking as well stressing safety initiatives that will protect the community.
Additionally, AlliedBarton Patrol Officers will be handing out our Share-the-Road collateral at the following locations:
34th & Walnut Streets
36th & Walnut Streets
38th & Locust Walk
40th & Locust Streets
Penn Park
Note, riders 12 years of age and above are prohibited from riding on the sidewalk, per City of Philadelphia Ordinance.
