UPPD Receives CALEA Reaccreditation with Awards

The University of Pennsylvania Police Department has been awarded ADVANCED Reaccreditation at the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., (CALEA®Conference in St. Louis. CALEA administers a rigorous accreditation process whereby law enforcement agencies must adhere to over 440 standards, codes and state-of-the-art practices. The UPPD is the first Pennsylvania university police department to receive this prestigious recognition, and one of 54 in the nation. This marks the Department’s 5th Accreditation. The Department was given special recognition at this year’s CALEA Conference for being accredited for 15 consecutive years.

Vice President for Public Safety and Superintendent of Penn Police, Maureen S. Rush, also received the Egon Bittner Award for Excellence in Leadership of a CALEA Accredited Law Enforcement Agency for 15 consecutive years.
