DIVISION OF PUBLIC SAFETY ADVISORY
Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) notified Universities and Colleges in our region that threats of violence have been made against “an unspecified university near Philadelphia”.
The information includes a specific date of Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, 1 p.m. central time/ 2 p.m. eastern time.
We have been advised by ATF and the FBI that they have “no knowledge of any specific threat”. However, in an abundance of caution we are working closely with Federal and local Law Enforcement Agencies to monitor this unspecified threat. The Division of Public Safety has increased our police, security officer and CCTV patrols.
We ask that you remain aware of your surroundings, report any suspicious activity or behavior to the Division of Public Safety via 215-573-3333, Blue Light Emergency Phones or 511 from a University telephone.
The Division of Public Safety will continue to ensure the highest level of safety and security for our community.

In order to use the Penn Guardian service, individuals must enroll by registering their cell phone via the Guardian App, and creating a personal profile and four-digit PIN.
Registering is quick and easy- simply register, create your PIN and add your profile information. You must use your Penn email address when registering to take advantage of all of the safety features available to the Penn Community.
You can now also update other information including your address, schedules, vehicle information, etc. Remember, all information is completely optional and is kept private and secure. Provide as much or as little information as you are comfortable with.
That’s it! Now that your registered, anytime you contact Public Safety by dialing 215-573-3333, PennComm dispatchers will be able to obtain accurate information about you and where you may should you need urgent assistance. Visit the Penn Guardian App to update your information should your number, address or any other information about you change.
The information you choose to include in the Penn Guardian profile is kept completely confidential. PennComm or any entity at the University can not locate using your phone’s GPS service any other time. PennComm dispatchers only see this information when you call 215-573-3333 and can not be viewed at any other time.
